Homework

This is not what I signed up for, when I
registered for this, I had no idea  
it was a class and I would be expected 
to learn things, do hard stuff, attend 
and being handed
every type of day, pick ways to pass 
my time while never being sure 
of any end from the beginning --

How can I be responsible for what comes
if not knowing, never knowing, is 
the one condition I can count on 
and the only thing on which
to base my choice, 
on which to write the final paper, sure 
to come due well before I ever
finish all of my assignments?
